Children's Program
June 10 – July 31
Reading is never finished! Our summer reading program is intended to instill a love of reading in kids, and to remind them that reading can be fun. Children can register for the summer reading program online with the link below, or by visiting the children’s desk. There are two programs, one for children who are not reading on their own yet, and one for children who read independently. Participants receive coupons for free museum day passes, treats, snacks and more! When they complete the program, they choose a book to keep and are entered to win one of 4 grand prizes.

Adult & Teen Programs

Get ready to hit the jackpot with our Adult Summer Reading Bingo! Our library is hosting the ultimate reading challenge for all bookworms and bingo enthusiasts. We've filled our bingo sheets with exciting reading prompts that will take you on a wild literary adventure. Whether you're lounging poolside or enjoying a lazy summer afternoon, grab a book and start checking off those squares. With each completed bingo, you'll earn bragging rights and a ticket to enter into our weekly and grand prize drawings. So grab your reading glasses, get cozy, and let's play some bingo!
Each week, you'll have a chance to win a stylish mug emblazoned with our logo, as well as a charming mini book to add to your collection. And as the grand finale, we're offering a grand prize consisting of four $25 gift cards to local shops and restaurants Good luck, and happy reading!

Mr. Dan Presents
June 29, July 27, August 22 - 10am @ Community Room
Mr. Dan, along with his puppet friends will be sharing an interactive story. This fun filled presentation focuses on problem solving and social/emotional skills for preschoolers. Mr. Dan is a retired school counselor and member of the CPL circulation staff. The program is suitable for preschool through kindergarten children and their caregivers.
Doodlebugs
June 19, July 17, August 7 - 10am @ Community Room
Welcome to Doodlebugs! Doodlebugs is a fun art program for our small patrons ages 2- The Doodlebug program fosters early learning skills such as muscle strengthening in hands for writing and self-expression for creativity and thinking. Please register each child individually and include the child's name. Registration opens two weeks before the program date.
Kindergarten Party
August 24 - 10-10:30am @ Community Room
Calling all kids entering Kindergarten in Cedarburg this fall! Miss Heidi will be sharing kindergarten-themed books and activities related to starting school. Each participant will also receive a special gift from their friends at the Cedarburg Library! Reminder to parents; that this party is for the kindergarteners-to-be! Parents and siblings will be encouraged to remain outside of the program room to allow the school-age children to have their special day! Registration begins August 1.
Literacy Alcove
All Summer - Drop in (Activities Rotate Monthly)
Emerging readers will have the opportunity to work on literacy skills through short games and activities. This area’s offerings will be rotated monthly.
Perler Bead Earring Hangers

Got earrings with no home? Do you have empty wall space that needs a little pizzaz? Create a fun way to store them, or just create a fun decoration! Supplies will be provided. Intended for ages 7+ Registration required.
DIY Baseball Hats & Tote Bags

Stay cool and organized with summer! Design your own baseball hat or fabric tote bag using iron-on decals and fabric paint. Intended for ages 6+. Registration required.
Fabric Bracelets

Create your own woven bracelet using fabric strips and decorations. Intended for ages 6+. This is a drop-in program, available while supplies last.
LED Name Keychain

Etch your name on an acrylic keychain, then light it up with circuits! Intended for ages 8+. Registration required.
Rubber Band Cars

Build a rubber band powered toy car, decorate it, then race! Intended for ages 8+. Registration required.
Bug Bots

Wooden Wind Chimes

Galaxy Dough

Get messy with galaxy dough! Make your own sparkly space-colored dough to take home while the Perseid meteors are passing by. Parents, don’t worry: this dough isn’t messy like the dreaded slime. Intended for ages 6+. Registration required.
Light-Up Shooting Stars

Come make a shooting star to celebrate the Perseid meteor showers rolling through our night skies! We'll use tissue paper to make the star, then light it up with a light diode! Registration required."
Kid’s Kickoff to Summer
Saturday, June 10th from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm @ Cedar Creek Park
Celebrate the beginning of summer with food trucks, face painting, balloon twisting, bounces houses and more at Cedar Creek Park! Stop by the library’s tent to register for summer reading, grab some stickers, pop some bubbles and learn about all the fun library summer programs.
Family Night

Come to the library before bedtime to play board games, craft, and wind down as a family. Comfy clothes and stuffie friends are welcome at this bedtime event. Games and craft materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring your favorite family-friendly game.
Lego Club

Lego Club is a club for kids of all ages who love working with Legos. We supply the blocks; you supply the creativity on this month's build. Spend the hour building anything you like, and your creation will be displayed for a short time in the Children’s Department.
School Supply Drive

In the spirit of our summer reading theme, “All Together Now,” the library is hosting a school supply drive. Stop by the library to pick up a list of suggested items. All supplies will be donated to local Cedarburg Schools.

Cardboard Challenge
July 28th 9am – 4:30 pm
Inspired by the short film Caine’s Arcade, the Cardboard Challenge is an opportunity for kids (as well as their adults) to flex their creative muscles. Families can work together using mainly cardboard, along
with some other simple materials, to build whatever they please. Whether a small-scale miniature golf course, or life-size unicorn, the cardboard challenge is an opportunity to let your imagination run wild. This event is drop in; no registration required. This program is intended for families
Butterflies at the Library
Mid-August through September
This summer the library is raising monarch butterflies in mesh enclosures located in the Maker Space. Observe the caterpillars, chrysalis, or butterflies — depending on the stage of metamorphosis – and read facts about this amazing species. Due to the health and safety of the butterflies, they will be released periodically throughout the month instead of all at once. Photos and videos of the monarchs' release will be shared on social media.
Monarch Butterfly Information Session
Thursday, August 3 from 11:00 – 11:30 am, Community Room
Learn about the importance of monarchs, milkweed, native plants and pollinators in this presentation with staff member and butterfly enthusiast Kasey St. Clair. She will share tips on how to raise monarchs at home. This event is suited for all ages.
Bad Art Night
August 7th 6pm – 7:45 pm? Community Room
No matter what level of artistic ability you have, throw that right out the door. On this “bad art night,” we will provide all the materials needed to make the worst piece of art possible. We will then hold a viewing where people will vote on the best “worst” piece. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up creating the world’s nest masterpiece? This event is suited for kids 10+ and families. Learn how to make your own radio show or podcast episode with CPL Radio expert Jeff Messerman. Each month, attend a class where you will learn different aspects of recording, writing a show, interviewing, hardware, software, and more! One additional monthly session is a chance for you to record content. Sessions will continue throughout the year so you can build upon broadcasting skills. Registration required. Intended for ages 11 – 18.
Anime Marathon

Beat the summer heat and watch a sampling of popular anime series. Drop in anytime during the program. Snacks and covered drinks permitted. The anime selection is aimed for teens in grades 6 – 12 and may not be suitable for younger children.
Nintendo Switch Drop-In

Drop by and play some exciting multiplayer Nintendo Switch games, like Mario Kart, Yoshi and Overcooked. Playing cards, puzzles and coloring pages will be provided while players take turns. Intended for ages 8 and up.
